Jeffrey Dean Morgan totally enjoys poking fun at The Walking Dead fans' worst nightmare.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season one has concluded. While the show definitely had its fair share of flaws, fans are happy that there wasn't a single hint at the worst thing that could happen in the series — a romance between Maggie and Negan.

The buzz about a potential romance between two characters who are, let's just say, not exactly on the best of terms, was making rounds on the internet.

Negan is the one who brutally killed Maggie's husband in front of her while she was pregnant. So, the idea of a romance between them seems not just unlikely, but downright unthinkable. However, fans were really worried that this was the direction the show would explore.

Before the first episode aired, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan, and Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, well aware of the chatter, spoke about it in an interview with TVLine.

They addressed the speculation with a good dose of humor. Morgan was quite enthusiastic about it, saying, "We love it!" Cohan, on the other hand, found the idea amusing and far from reality.

Morgan was quick to point out that there is undeniable chemistry between the characters. He even went as far as to joke, "I think they could end up together." This comment, of course, sent them both into fits of laughter.

In Men's Health's Don't Read The Comments series, Morgan responded to various comments and questions from fans. One of them was a tweet by a fan who wants Negan and Maggie to kiss each other. In his charming and joking manner he responded "Yeah, me too."

Seems like Jeffrey Dean Morgan knows just how to stir up the fanbase with his cheeky comments on what fans definitely don't want to see in the show.

The journey of Maggie and Negan, regardless of where it leads, is bound to be complicated, but it definitely doesn't imply any romantic relationship. If the creators of Dead City included this plotline, the hate would be absolutely guaranteed.

Luckily, the show avoided this twist that would ruin the complicated history of these two. Instead, the first season, while not flawless, managed to introduce a compelling story, leaving fans eagerly waiting for season 2.
