The character still has a chance to go past her scrapped series.

NCIS: Hawai’i recently ended with a major cliffhanger, forcing numerous fans across the world to go further with their revenge by calling out CBS in many different ways, but some of them still cherish a hope that the ending’s big mystery can be unveiled without bringing the show back to the screen.

Despite being unfairly ditched by the network, the spinoff still has a chance to push its main character towards the franchise’s origins show as some recent events there have proved there can indeed be a suitable place for her.

However, the character would be a much better fit if she was to replace someone very different.

NCIS’ season 21 finale finds Special Agent Jessica Knight being more than enthusiastic about a big job opportunity offered by NCIS Director Leon Vance. Giving him a brief answer of just “Hell yeah,” Knight accepts a new position of REACT Chief Training Officer at Camp Pendleton, signing up for a transfer to the other side of the country and leaving the MCRT.

Meanwhile, canceled NCIS: Hawai’i also seems to have a surprise in store for its Special Agent-in-Charge Jane Tennant, though in this case nobody has a clue what it was supposed to be as the show ends on a big cliffhanger hinting at something big coming Jane’s way.

So far it’s not clear yet whether Jessica Knight is leaving NCIS for good or will rather stay as a guest character paying visits to her former colleagues every so often, but it’s nonetheless obvious that her position at the MCRT will get vacant once she departs for her new workplace.

Some fans have recently been vocal about a possibility for NCIS: Hawai’i’s Jane Tennant to make a shift to the main show taking Knight’s position over and thus giving some kind of explanation for the finale’s cliffhanger.

However exciting this would sound for the fans, for Jane Tenant herself this is far from being good news.

Holding a status of the first female Special Agent-in-Charge, Tennant would surely not be happy to take over Knight’s role at the MCRT as her position in NCIS: Hawai’i is pretty much more prestigious than Knight’s one, thus for Tennant it would mean nothing but a demotion rather than a great job opportunity.

With all that in mind, she’s still able to make her way to NCIS by becoming a temporary replacement for Alden Parker during the time he needs to recover after being injured in the season 21 finale.

This option indeed seems more than perfect given that Jane’s former mentor Maggie Shaw shows up unexpectedly in the final episode of NCIS: Hawai’i to deliver some urgent news.
