Jake Gyllenhaal’s Thriller Movie by Tom Ford Just Landed on Netflix
Tom Ford’s stylish eerie movie was quick to become cult.
Apart from dropping brand new movies and shows every week, Netflix also keeps itself busy adding more of old flicks to its giant collection, and this time the streaming opted for a 2016 neo-noir psychological thriller Nocturnal Animals starring Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal in the leading roles.
The reason why the movie has been kept from streaming on Netflix all this time remains a mystery, but now the high-rated thriller can be finally checked out by the streaming’s viewers.
Written and directed by fashion designer Tom Ford, Nocturnal Animals follows Susan Morrow, an art gallery owner living in Los Angeles. Out of the blue, she receives a manuscript for a novel written by her estranged ex-husband Edward who also sends her an invitation to have dinner with him once he’s in the town.
Frustrated by how things are going with her current cheating husband Hutton, Susan dives deep into Edward’s book titled Nocturnal Animals which is also dedicated to her. The more she follows the book’s plot, the quicker she starts realizing that the storyline has some obvious similarities with her personal relationships with Edward in the past.
Assembling an impressive cast that also includes Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Isla Fisher, Armie Hammer, Michael Sheen and many others, Nocturnal Animals became a real phenomenon upon its release back in 2016.
The movie had quite modest results in the box office garnering only $32 million against the initial budget of $22 million, yet received critics and viewers’ acclaim landing scores of 74% and 73% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.
Back in the day, Nocturnal Animals also earned a Golden Globe award to Aaron Taylor-Johnson and an Academy award nomination to Michael Shannon.
Nocturnal Animals can now be streamed on Netflix worldwide.
