Jaime Lannister Had To Kill GoT's Night King And You're Ready To Talk About This
The Night King's entire arc was butchered at the end of Game of Thrones along with pretty much every other, and this is no secret.
The writers really rushed the finale, and it led to the season with the lowest ratings ever — and when it comes to The Night King, it was just catastrophic.
The entire multi-season build-up was wasted, and one of the most powerful beings in the world was killed with a dagger. This was terrible, to say the least.
But even if The Night King had to go there and then, Arya Stark was not the character to do that. Admittedly, it was an attempt to justify her extremely long House of Black and White arc, but still…
We have a way more appropriate suggestion for who should've killed The Night King.
Ironically, the original idea belongs to Reddit user named TheNightKing11111. They suggest that their namesake should've been killed by… Jaime Lannister!
It may sound weird at first, but the reasoning is pretty good, too.
First of all, it would've covered up a massive plot mechanism which was the wight hunt. It's now excruciatingly obvious that the reason behind that dumb idea was to provide The Night King the means of breaking the Wall — the dragon.
In the end, the only person who actually responded to the call was Jaime.
He joined the rest in the fight against The Night King, and if he was the one to kill him, it would've made Dany and Jon appear less stupid for literally helping the undead breach the Wall.
Second of all, it would've made much sense for Jaime's character development.
Jaime's arc would've been complete. He started by almost killing Bran, he would've ended up saving him. He started being mocked as Kingslayer, he would've ended up praised as Kingslayer.
His finale would've been more tragic, too: as he finally started getting the admiration and love of the people he craved, he would've ended up dying along with his only love, unable to break away from his addiction to her, and the scene with Brienne writing his entry in The White Book would've become even more emotional.
Overall, it makes total sense that Jaime should've killed The Night King, both for the plot and for the character. It would've been a tragic and beautiful finale to his story and his redemption arc…
And far more justified than Arya's assassin jump or whatever in Seven Hells that was.
