It's Official: These Two Characters Will Be Back in 'Squid Game' Season 2
It may be too soon to talk about the season 2 of 'Squid Game' being in early development, because the show's creator Hwang Dong-hyuk earlier said that he has not even started writing. Some details about upcoming episodes, however, are already revealed by Dong-hyuk himself.
We can definitely expect at least two characters returning in 'Squid Game ' season 2, according to the show's creator, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk.
Sitting down with Deadline's TV editor Peter White, Dong-hyuk revealed two names.
"Gi-hun for sure. He will be back and I believe the Front Man will [be] back too," Hwang said.
Gi-hun is the main character, who managed to survive the Squid Game in season 1. He is portrayed by Lee Jung-jae. Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), in turn, is the one who navigated the cruel world of the games, hiding his face under a black mask.
Their comeback, however, was expected, as they are the two main parties of the conflict that seems to be about to erupt in season 2, as Gi-hun is drawn back to the cruel game.
Earlier, Hwang teased the possibility of another character coming back. Well, not exactly the character, but the actress portraying it – HoYeon Jung. She played a refugee from North Korea who joined the gruesome fight for cash and ended up dead just a few steps away from the final battle.
The director flirted with the idea of her character possibly having a twin sister – a chance that could bring Jung back into the show, not necessarily resurrecting the character.
