Would Shane have done any good for the group had he survived?

One The Walking Dead character who's got us all in a tizzy is Shane Walsh, who was portrayed by Jon Bernthal. Shane's actions and choices have sparked some intense debates among fans.

Many people have been convinced for many years that Shane was ahead of his time and he would have made an amazing survivor or even leader, if he didn't die.

However, a Reddit user stirred some debates with their opinion that Shane is nothing more than a trouble-magnet.

At first glance, Shane seemed like a total badass survivor. The guy had some mad shooting skills and was all about keeping the group safe.

But let's not forget the dark side of Shane's character. Shane's relationships within the group were a mess, especially with Dale, Hershel and Rick. His clashes with Hershel over staying on the farm were like watching a ticking time bomb.

One of the big criticisms thrown his way is how he handled the search for Sophia, poor Carol's daughter. Some argue that he gave up on finding her way too early, and that decision had some seriously tragic consequences.

And let's not even get started on that attempted rape of Lori, Rick's wife. That was beyond messed up and completely shattered any trust towards the character.

Some folks claim that Shane in seasons 1-2 was like Rick in season 5, suggesting that Shane's ruthlessness would have been an asset. But hold up, there is a stark difference between these two.

Rick, despite going through unimaginable losses and horrors, managed to hold onto his humanity and lead with empathy. His struggles shaped him into a more understanding and strategic leader.

On the other hand, Shane's descent into madness was fueled by his own desires and a lack of emotional resilience. There's no comparison there.

Let's take a wild ride into speculations and ponder how Shane would have handled the challenges Rick faced.

Many believe that Shane could have managed to keep the group safer, and the Governor, for example, wouldn't be such a threat as he was to the group under Rick's leadership.

However, Shane's unstable mindset and inability to handle emotional turmoil would have led him straight down the path of destruction. And he would probably drag everyone down with him.
