Initial reactions to the film are extremely positive, but early screenings have proven time and again that they are not to be trusted.

The Flash, an upcoming DCU movie based on the DC Comics character of the same name, has just been screened for attendees at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and audience reaction has been extremely positive.

Those who were lucky enough to see it before its official release seem to absolutely love the movie, describing it as one of the best superhero movies ever made and "the ultimate cinematic experience."

It also contains a ton of fan service, such as Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman from the 1989 and 1992 films, Ben Affleck playing the DCU version of the same character for the last time, and Michael Shannon returning as General Zod, which only added to the fans' excitement.

However, with 1.5 months to go before the official release of the film, one should be careful not to have too high expectations despite the enthusiastic initial reactions.

There are plenty of examples where a movie that was highly praised by test audiences ended up being mediocre or even bad when it was released to the general public.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was described as "100 times better than Man of Steel" and even reportedly received a standing ovation during early screenings.

In a more recent case, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was praised as "a strong start to Phase 5 of the MCU with plenty of laughs and drama."

Well, we all remember how that turned out, with the film scoring only 47% on Rotten Tomatoes. Even though the audience reaction was warmer, Quantumania still can't be called a particularly great Marvel movie.

We are not suggesting that The Flash will inevitably fail, just that you should not have unreasonably high expectations for the movie.

As described above, test audiences and early screenings are not to be trusted.

There is also one particular thing that is a spoiler, so if you want to avoid it, we suggest you stop reading now.

The supposed main villain of the movie spoiled by the Hasbro toys is the Dark Flash, who doesn't look very good.

Fans are comparing him to Steppenwolf from Joss Whedon's Justice League (2017), and are worried that he will end up being another flat and ugly CGI villain.

The Flash will be released on June 16, 2023.
