Is Wednesday Success a Sign That It's Time for a Twilight Reboot?
A new generation? Sounds about right.
Netflix 's Wednesday danced with its hands above its head to global success, quickly becoming the platform's second biggest English-language hit.
Even though iconic Addams Family characters like Morticia and Gomez were not at the center of the story, the show proved that the new generation got it.
If it worked with the Addams Family, why not bring another supernatural family back to their glory days? And yes, we're talking about Bella and Edward Cullen, the vampire couple of the Twilight universe.
A Twilight reboot has long been the "what if" of the fandom, despite the lack of any credible indication that such a thing is possible.
However, now that Wednesday Addams is marching around the world, it might be a good time for Twilight to focus on... Renesmee Cullen, Edward and Bella's daughter.
Already established as a major character in the Twilight series, Renesmee has her own set of supernatural powers that might as well be different from her parents'.
Also, unlike Wednesday (whose love triangle felt "forced" to many fans), Renesmee already has a good romantic setup.
Even if her relationship with Jacob Black was questionable in the original series, it could work perfectly now that she is older.
The idea of a Wednesday-inspired Twilight reboot was first floated by Screen Rant's Cathal Gunning and caused a lot of buzz in the Twilight fandom. It turns out that people are cautious about the idea.
"Obviously series or movies about other vampires in the universe would be good but I think what they meant here is probably a recast, since Wednesday was so successful since they recasted the whole [Addams] family," Twitter user kristenluvr said.
Others are excited about the possibility of a reboot, especially if a whole new cast is involved.
However, it's too early to get excited (or to start an online anti-reboot campaign), as there's been no news on what's coming for the Twilight franchise — if anything is coming at all.
