Is There Still Hope? Ted Lasso Director Clears Things Up on Possible Spinoff
Guess we just have to BELIEVE.
Apple TV Plus' Ted Lasso hit the small screens three years ago and became an instant hit. Everyone loved the main character, Ted, who had just moved to England to coach a soccer team when the show started.
In fact, it was not only a job opportunity for him, but also a way to escape his personal problems back at home. Instead of fixing his complicated marriage, he decided to fix some other things at Rebecca Welton's Richmond club.
At first, working in a new place was torture for him, but after some time, he really turned Richmond into his home and made a lot of friends there. It was truly a joy to watch his positive energy play out and make others love him.
Ted Lasso had a successful run for three seasons, with the last one ending on May 31st of this year. It was already known that Season 3 would be the one to wrap up the story, although fans are still left with a lot of questions after the series finale.
Even though the show didn't end with major cliffhangers, there are still some stories that need to be tied up. And the director of the show shares this thought.
“Everybody knew it was the end, but it’s also the end for now. It’s going to be two or three years before anything happens — if anything happens — so let’s try and tie up all these stories properly,” Lowney said in the interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
The director of the series also mentioned that the script actually has a lot more stories to cover. Well, it seems like he basically gave the answer to the most intriguing question fans have been asking since the show's finale: "Will there be a spinoff? But he didn't address the second: "What will it be about?"
The thing is, Ted Lasso fans were pretty clear on the Internet when it came to their expectations for the new show. They didn't want it to be a whole new thing with a bunch of new characters.
What they are interested in is getting another glimpse into the lives of Ted, Roy, Nate, Rebecca, Keely and others. Well, let's hope we find out in three years!
