Even the smallest details can hide a deeper meaning, and fans are more than ready to uncover it as they wait for season 2.

With the second season of House of the Dragon on the way, fans continue to theorize and pick up on small details that create all kinds of speculation.

And now, a small but potentially important detail in Rhaenyra and Aegon's banners has caught their attention, according to a discussion on Reddit.

While the former has a four-legged dragon, the one depicted on Aegon's banners has only two, which is quite odd considering that all dragons depicted in both Game of Thrones and its prequel have only two legs.

However, fans have come up with a number of explanations for this fact, one of the more obvious being that it simply shows that Rhaenyra and her allies currently have more dragons than their rivals.

It could also be that there are other dragon breeds that just haven't had a chance to appear on screen yet, but that hasn't been confirmed so far.

But there is another interesting theory, as Daenerys Targaryen used the two-legged banner until she sailed for Westeros in Game of Thrones, only to later change it to the four-legged one.

Fans believe this was a continuity error that the showrunners are now trying to fix by introducing two versions: the four-legged "original" and the two-legged "new" one, with Daenerys returning to her roots when she is ready to take the Iron Throne.

Of course, there is also the possibility that there is no deeper meaning, and the creators simply came up with a way to visually distinguish two opposing Targaryen factions that use the same ancestral banner with only minor differences.

House of the Dragon season 2 is currently being filmed, and although the official release date hasn't been announced, it's expected to be sometime in the late spring/early summer of 2024.
