Looks like the remake of the 1976 cult film 'The Man Who Fell to Earth' starring late David Bowie has successfully sticked the landing after all.
The series centers on an Alien (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who arrives on Earth struggling to understand what it means to be human while trying to save his dying planet. 'The Man Who Fell To Earth', co-starring Naomie Harris, Jimmy Simpson and Rob Delaney, could be the next big step for TV sci-fi, emphasizing emotion over space exploration and blaster shooting.
Critics are quite impressed with Showtime 's latest, currently giving it 83% freshness on Rotten Tomatoes.
Paste Magazine's Terry Terrones congratulated series' creator on achieving "something surprisingly hard to do, perfectly mixing science fiction with humor, heart, and a level of environmentalism that's thought-provoking yet not overbearing."
The great cast is the main point of attraction for most critics, with RogerEbert.com's Nick Allen noting that "when the collective charisma of its cast kicks in, they are able to fill in a great deal of the shows gaps" and IndieWire's Ben Travers saying that "with a cast this strong, it's worth seeing where this mission goes next."
