Fans want Dr. Spencer Reid back, but not for the Jeid romance arc.

With more and more attention being paid to JJ and her personal life, Evolution is clearly hinting that something will happen to her or her family either in the Season 1 finale or in the next few seasons. So far, JJ's relationship with her husband Will has felt like the only healthy, happy relationship on the show. With one small exception.

In the Season 14 twist that shocked many viewers, JJ told Spencer Reid that she had always loved him. Since she'd been married to Will since Season 7 and already had two sons with him, this confession came as something completely out of character and surprising.

To be fair, JJ was held at gunpoint by a truth-obsessed unsub. He wanted JJ to reveal some deep, dark secret that no one knew about, so she did just that. And that became the moment the fandom split.

Some fans, especially those who had been shipping JJ and Reid aka Jeid since Season 1, were thrilled to learn that the two beloved characters still had a chance to find happiness together.

Others, however, were horrified by the idea. Reid was the godfather of JJ's son, for God's sake. The final season of the original series proved that Jeid was not to be, to the relief of many fans who were in a hurry to put JJ's confession out of their minds.

Now that Evolution has been renewed for another season, and every single fan is hoping that it will bring Reid back, fans are starting to wonder if Season 1 is focusing so much on JJ's family in order to revive her love story with Reid in the seasons to come. And the majority seems to hate the idea.

"I will riot if they make JJ and Reid endgame," one of the fans wrote on Reddit to the approval of the commenters. "As much as I would love Matthew Grey Gubler to return I don't want him and JJ to be a couple if he does."

Whether Will lies about his diagnosis, he and JJ break up, or he is attacked by Elias Voit, it is clear that their storyline is going somewhere dark. Fans just hope it's not too heartbreaking. And it won't involve Reid at some point.
