If they kill Rossi...

The countdown is on for the release of the Evolution Season 1 finale and fans feel that in just a few hours something very tragic could happen in the beloved series. Episode 9 started some pretty disturbing storylines, including Will joining the BAU investigation and Rossi being captured by Elias Voit due to the special agent's stupid choices.

Fans were bothered by the way Rossi threw his experience and knowledge down the drain and went to confront Sicarius without any backup or at least a backup plan.

Seeing Rossi weak and begging for help in the abandoned container at the end of the episode made many fans wonder what was going through his mind when he went into Voit's house alone, and what was going through the minds of the writers when they created such an out-of-character storyline.

Criminal Minds' A.J. Cook is As Conflicted About Jeid As You Are, Probably

Rossi was in a very similar situation in seasons 14 and 15 when he almost died at the hands of intelligent, prolific serial killer Everett Lynch, aka The Chameleon. You would think Rossi would have learned something after the whole Lynch storyline, but no. He makes the same mistakes. And those mistakes may actually lead to a tragic finale.

The Paramount+ press release for Episode 10 says, "As the BAU tightens their grip on Voit, he reveals just how far he's willing to take his deadly crusade."

To many fans, that sounds very much like one of the main characters is going to die. And unless Rossi has some sort of elaborate plan up his sleeve, he seems like the best candidate so far.

Criminal Minds: Evolution Pulls the Trigger on Garvez In The Worst Way Possible

For dedicated fans, such a shocking twist would be too devastating. With Reid absent this season, Rossi is the show's oldest original male protagonist and a fan favorite. It would be pretty cruel to bring the show back just to kill him off. So fans can only hope that the creators are playing on their fears. After all, the show has not killed off many prominent cast members in the past. Even if Joe Mantegna decides not to participate in the second season of Evolution, fans hope that his character's arc will be given a less tragic ending, such as retirement.

Will Rossi be killed off this season? The season finale, titled "Dead End" and set to premiere on Thursday, February 9, 2023, will reveal.
