Do we have reasons to expect a crossover?

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is finally in theaters, receiving a great response from viewers and critics.

If you haven't seen it yet, you should get on that ASAP. Just a heads up, this article might contain some minor spoilers, so proceed with caution.

The multiverse is all the rage these days, especially in Marvel projects. With this in mind, fans are totally convinced that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is part of the MCU.

Let's explore the evidence shared by fans on Reddit that potentially connects the universes.

J. Jonah Jameson

J.K. Simmons landed his voice for different versions of the same character in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. He also portrayed Jameson in the MCU and in the original Raimi's trilogy.

Portals

The hexagon portals in both of Sony's animated movies are pretty much resembling the portals that we've seen in numerous MCU's projects.

Venom 's universe

In Across the Spider-Verse, Spot teleports to the Venom's universe where he encounters Mrs. Chen, the keeper of the store where Eddie Brock used to shop at.

And as we know from post-credit scenes of Venom's sequel and No Way Home, Venom-verse and the MCU are connected.

Dr. Strange and No Way Home

Miguel O'Hara straight up references the crazy mess caused by Doctor Strange, that happened in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Prowler

In Across the Spider-Verse, we see a version of Aaron Davis, also known as Prowler, portrayed by Donald Glover this time.

He previously played the character in Spider-Man: Homecoming, even though he wasn't Prowler yet. Therefore, it is highly likely that it was the same character from the MCU.

Doctor Octopus

In one of the scenes of Across the Spider-Verse, Doctor Octopus can be heard saying, "Hello, Peter." It was clearly Alfred Molina's voice, who portrayed the character in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

These facts could potentially indicate that Miles Morales' story is unfolding in one of the MCU's universes. But we should still take it with a grain of salt. Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man, so these could just be sneaky easter eggs.

A potential crossover is only going to happen if two studios come to an agreement.
