Is a Wedding or a Courtroom Drama in Store for Bridgerton Fans in Season 3?
Bridgerton fans are eagerly awaiting the third season, and while many would prefer to be surprised by what is to come, some simply cannot resist a slight tease of what may happen.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD
Recently leaked pictures from the set have sparked a hearty debate online among viewers, as to what the scene in the shots likely reveals.
To be fair, not a huge amount of information is available regarding what was seen, but what is known, is that the photos depict five men, who are either priests or judges, in what appears to be a church. This has prompted people to drum up two strong, albeit competing, theories.
The first theory is that the leaked scene is of a wedding which makes sense given it seems to be taking place inside a church.
Now, some have shot this idea down by questioning why a wedding would require five priests. But one eagle-eyed fan has reminded everyone of Anthony's wedding, which clearly featured five clergy members.
Further, one of the men in the leaked shot is wearing a cross around his neck, which seems to further support the wedding possibility. But perhaps the strongest evidence for the scene being a wedding was the fact that Bridgerton 's dance choreographer, Jack Murphy, was also present in some of the pictures.
The logical assertion made by him being there is that it must be a wedding because that is likely a scene to feature dancing. As for who is likely to be getting married, the suggestion has been Francesca will be the bride, as she is due to have her coming out in season three. There appear to be no thoughts yet on the identity of the groom, however.

The second theory is that the scene is depicting a criminal trial and fans on that side of the fence have also made some excellent points.
They have recalled that Penelope hid one of her Lady Whistledown articles inside a church, and it is believed that season three will see it discovered. Viewers have also not forgotten that Penelope has made some scathing comments about almost everyone, even the Queen, in her secret tenure as Lady Whistledown, and this would very possibly result in her facing criminal charges.

Naturally, the argument has arisen of why would so many priests be at a trial? The answer is that the men shown are not priests at all, they are judges. Fans siding with the criminal trial theory do not have an explanation for Murphy's presence in the leaked shots, beyond him simply wishing to observe an exciting scene being filmed and being permitted to do so because he works on the show. It certainly would not be the first time in television this has occurred.
Whether a wedding or a trial, one thing is for sure; season three of Bridgerton is going to feature more epic stories and thrilling scenes. There is still no official release date, but is remains expected to land sometime in 2023.
