Considering the huge gap between seasons 1 and 2, they are a bit cautious about Robert Kirkman's ambitious plans to cover the entire storyline of the comics.

After the smashing success of the first season of the Invincible animated TV series, fans can't wait for the next chapter of the story and are counting down the days until season 2 is released.

The story of Mark Grayson captured their hearts, keeping fans glued to the screen for the entire 8-episode run of the first season, and many of them surprisingly found the TV adaptation to be even better than the original comic book.

Luckily, it looks like the series will be sticking around for quite some time, as Robert Kirkman, the creator of both the original comics and the show, intends for the TV adaptation to cover the entire story of the original.

In an interview with Polygon, he stated that while it is too early to say exactly how many seasons the show will run for, he is aiming for a "seven to eight season range" as he feels that is just enough to tell the full story.

However, Kirkman also mentioned that the show will most likely not be an exact retelling of the comics, as some elements may be scaled back, some expanded, and even some entirely new things that "didn't get into the comic that he'd like to do" may appear.

Fans point out that if Kirkman really wants to cover the whole story over an eight-season run, he and the other creators should hurry up with the release of new seasons.

It has been over two years since season one ended, and considering that season two will be split in two halves, it could be even longer before we see season 3.

At this rate, fans fear that the show will end by 2040, if not later, and they can't really understand why the creators are taking so long, considering that the material is basically already written and storyboarded.

They hope that after the release of season 2, the process will be much faster and they won't have to wait more than 15 years to see the finale of their beloved story.

The first half of Invincible season 2 will be released on November 3, 2023, while the second half is expected sometime in early 2024.

Do you think waiting over a decade for Invincible to end is too much?
