Into the Raimiverse: Most Hated Sony Villain Linked to Toby Maguire's Spider-Man
Web-slinger has another formidable opponent to contend with.
Morbius, also known as Dr. Michael Morbius, is a biochemist who suffers from a rare blood disorder and attempts to cure himself through experimental treatments with vampire bats.
However, the experiment fails and he is transformed into a living vampire with superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to fly. Morbius struggles to come to terms with his new existence, resisting his bloodlust and becoming a tragic anti-hero.
And in 2022, a long-awaited movie was released to tell the story of the vampire and expand the Spider-Man universe. But the movie failed at the box office, pissed off audiences and critics, and even won two Golden Raspberry Awards.
Another Sony villain movie didn't work out, but Redditor housepainterr thinks it's too early to write off Morbius. The fan reminds us that Adrian Toomes, aka Vulture, portrayed by the wonderful Michael Keaton, also appeared in the vampire movie.
This could be a hint that the studio is developing a motion picture about the legendary Sinister Six, a group of supervillains created by Dr. Octopus to finally take down Spider-Man.
The original team consisted of Dr. Octopus, Vulture, Electro, Mysterio, Sandman and Kraven the Hunter. Over the years, the lineup of the six has changed. Various villains such as the Green Goblin, Rhino, and Venom have joined the squad.
The Redditor notes that after the release of 2007's Spider-Man 3, there were plans for a sequel where the main villainous force would have been a team of these bad guys, but the movie never happened.
The fan thinks that the Sinister Six threat is better suited for the older and more experienced Peter Parker, played by Toby Maguire, than for Tom Holland 's young Spidey, who will have to fight Venom first.
The Redditor believes that Sam Raimi 's new superhero movie will still fulfill his original intentions of pitting the web-slinger against a team of villains.
Moreover, the fan can't ignore the fact that the Morbius trailer teased the appearance of Toby Maguire's superhero. And in the video game Spider-Man 3, based on the movie, the vampire has already become Peter Parker's main enemy.
So the Redditor thinks that in Sam Raimi's new movie, Morbius will gather the Sinister Six to finish off the web-slinger.
