Insane Gilmore Girls Theory by Show’s Costume Supervisor Works Too Well for Our Comfort
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life couldn’t have ended on a more shocking note, and even 7 years later, fans are still wondering what the actual hell that was.
In the spinoff’s finale, Rory announces that she is pregnant to her mom Lorelai, and the series ends with that, never revealing who the father is.
Years of speculation have kept viewers going, but the debate is still alive, and the top contenders for the title are Paul, Jess, and Logan.
Most fans seem to agree that Logan is the most obvious choice, and Valerie Campbell, Gilmore Girls ’ costume supervisor, supported this theory via TikTok back in March.

She even mentioned that Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of the show, was baffled that people were still questioning who Rory’s baby daddy was. Apparently, Logan is the only one who could be the father to Rory’s child, as their intimate relationship’s timeline suggests.
August rolled around, and Campbell dropped another Gilmore Girls bombshell on fans in a TikTok video. The costume supervisor is convinced that Rory was actually never meant to be the one to utter the iconic final lines of the series. Instead, Lorelai was supposed to end up pregnant and announce it to Emily.

According to Campbell, Sherman-Palladino wanted to end Gilmore Girls with season 8 (which she never got to do), and the last words of the revival show were supposed to be the last words of the original series.
However, by that time, Rory would’ve only been 23, which would have been too young to be pregnant in the 1990s when women usually opted to continue their education or start climbing the career ladder. At the end of season 8, Lorelai would’ve still been age-appropriate to have a baby with Luke, but in the spinoff, she was too old to have another kid (at least a biological one).
Campbell believed that the Gilmore Girls creator wanted Lorelai to come full circle and end up with Luke sooner than she did, giving the couple the perfect family show ending – riding off into the sunset with a kid on the way.
If Sherman-Palladino’d had a chance to finish the show on her own terms, that would’ve definitely changed the dynamic (maybe even for the better) and Rory wouldn’t have had to repeat her mother’s mistakes.
