Maybe it's like Tarantino movies that take place in the same universe, so Titanic's Jack is a distant relative of Ellen Ripley.

We never thought of James Cameron 's worlds that way, but thanks to Reddit, we saw much more than we expected.

Sci-fi movie fans often love to suggest how their favorite films are connected in some way. One of the most unexpected theories in recent years links two very different movies, The Terminator and Avatar.

At first glance, these pictures seem to have nothing in common. The Terminator is a gritty action about a killer robot from the future, while Avatar is a lush fantasy adventure set on an alien planet.

But audiences have theorized that they might actually be set in the same universe.

For example, Redditor Boondobbler says that Judgment Day always happens, and regardless of John Connor's involvement, humanity always emerges victorious from the war.

However, the conflict with Skynet left the planet's ecosystem in ruins. The remaining survivors were determined to advance technologically, but they didn't want another Judgment Day.

"All the advanced machinery present in the Avatar movies has to be piloted. The first Avatar movie is set in 2154, and yet there is no autonomous machinery," they say.

This aversion to AI led to a focus on biological engineering through genetic manipulation and cloning, which prolonged human life.

As Earth suffered, humans began to search for a new habitable space.

While the rest of the fans think that this way you even connect The Terminator to Frank Herbert's Dune, so there's no real evidence or intention of Cameron to make these stories in the same universe, though many still think it would be a great collaboration — "because Avatar is ridiculous already so why not."

The suggestion is only speculation, but these hints and hidden signs force us to explore and investigate all facets and details of every cult piece of pop culture.

Maybe one day we'll see an official crossover between Terminator and Avatar and this theory will turn out to be true.

We almost had a Men in Black and 21 Jump Street mashup, so who knows?
