I’m Not That Excited About Young Sheldon Spinoff Now That These Characters Are Returning

Young Sheldon has been over for quite some time now, though it didn’t take long for The Big Bang Theory ’s prequel to continue the story via yet another spinoff which for now seems to have a major problem.

Picking Georgie and Mandy ’s storyline up right where Young Sheldon left it, the upcoming series titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will follow the couple in their married life with its ups and downs, and one major obstacle has already been foreshadowed by the recent casting update.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has no official release date yet, but the show is getting closer to its production start with more of Young Sheldon’s actors reprising their roles. The upcoming show’s creators have recently made it clear that Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones are coming back into the story as Mandy’s parents Jim and Audrey, whose presence might become just too much at some point.

Young Sheldon left Georgie and Mandy when the couple was sharing a house with Mandy’s parents, something that didn’t come as a major update considering that the characters lived in Georgie’s family house before.

Now that the chances to see Georgie and Mandy still living with the latter’s parents are quite high, it may become a huge problem for a show that aims at taking a closer look at the new family.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage for now seems to have a potential risk to give no proper development to its lead characters since the couple sharing the same living space with the parents of one of them gives a much bigger opportunity for those parents to frequently meddle in the whole plot line.

It thus suggests that the whole show might become just another version of Young Sheldon where the focus was put not only on the titular character, but rather on his entire family.

Though such a take on the whole story surely worked just fine with Young Sheldon, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage most likely won’t be able to go down the same road since the whole series’ aim is to dive deeper into Georgie and Mandy’s relationships and the ways that they can make their marriage work out despite all the major obstacles.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will arrive on the screens later this year.
