Whether you’re ready or not, the fan-favorite horror comedy Ready or Not is coming back with a sequel — and it’s all official.
While the future film still has to take several more steps towards the production, the creators seem to be all set for quite some time now — and they tend to think that the script happens to be a real work of art.
While talking to Entertainment Weekly recently, one of the first film’s directors Tyler Gillett revealed that the team had started working on the sequel’s script almost right after the original movie had come out.
According to the creator, nobody even expected to have so many fresh ideas that soon after the release — and they’re already proud of what the sequel will be.
Gillett also clarified that the second movie is now “getting figured out”, but the chances for it being greenlit are very high due to the script being, as the creator put it, “an absolute f—ing banger”.
He nonetheless added that so far there’s nothing certain about his role on set or how the script will be eventually adapted, but the original film’s team is still excited to see it happening and will do whatever it takes, no matter how big or small their part in the future movie will be.
Ready or Not starring Samara Weaving, Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien and others follows young bride Grace whose wedding suddenly turns into a survival game orchestrated by her weird parents-in-law.
Grace thus has to spend her wedding night being haunted by her wealthy husband’s family only to pay respects to an old brutal tradition.
The movie got its release back in 2019 and became an overall success grossing almost $58 million with the initial budget of only $6 million and getting the critics’ praises for the actors’ performances, direction and screenplay.
The movie ended up with a solid critical score of 89% and 78% from the viewers on Rotten Tomatoes.
