Iconic Friends Role Adam Sandler (Thankfully) Never Got
It's hard to imagine anyone other than the main cast of Friends as the iconic gang, but it could all have gone very wrong.
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston recently joined the Jake's Takes show while promoting the upcoming sequel to their Netflix hit, Murder Mystery.
The original film hit theaters in 2019 and made quite an impression on audiences, so the second installment wasn't long in coming.
Still, this isn't the first time they've worked together on a movie. The duo first appeared on the big screen in another hit comedy, Just Go With It, which was filmed in 2011.
Sandler and Aniston's combined talents were a huge success.
But before that, they both made their names in different areas of cinema: Sandler became a comedy master and Aniston made her way by playing one of the main characters in Friends.
Her iconic performance as Rachel Green will forever live rent free in the hearts of fans.
So while being on the Jake's Takes show they've been asked a question about which of their past projects they would have liked to have worked on.
Sandler's answer was just immediate, and of course he said that he wanted to play someone in Friends. "I woulda been the monkey on Friends. I would have handled that," the actor added jokingly.
But the joke was on him, because Aniston revealed his secret and said that Sandler really wanted to play Ross. After that came out, Sandler confirmed as much, noting half-defeatedly that he really wanted to play the character in the show.
But the thing is, despite his strong desire, he was never offered the role. And during the interview, he shared that what really broke his heart was that he wasn't even invited to guest star.
Well, it seems that some wounds never heal. Sandler admitted that "it really hurt."
Still, maybe it was all for the best, because frankly David Schwimmer turned out to be the only Ross Geller we truly deserved.
