The Big Bang Theory has a staggering number of memorable moments.

Over twelve years, fans have watched the characters grow, learn, love, endure heartbreak, and celebrate achievements. Some have married, had children, changed careers, but all have had audiences laugh, cry, and cheer with incredible regularity.

Being in the studio audience for TBBT became a highly coveted and rare treat for those lucky enough. Boasting lengthy waiting lists, most could only dream of being able to watch the show as it was being filmed.

But those most emotional moments that are met with the loudest applause and cheers feel even more genuine because it is a real audience providing that reaction.

TBBT Sequel Will Never Happen, and The Show's Finale Explains Why

Some scenes that have produced an especially strong reaction have been Leonard and Penny becoming engaged, Howard and Bernadette's wedding, and the many wonderful and surprising cameos from stars like Mark Hamill, Bob Newhart, James Earl Jones, and the late Stan Lee, Carrie Fisher, Adam West, and Professor Stephen Hawking.

But there was one scene above all others that had the studio audience so thrilled, they were on their feet clapping and cheering for ten minutes. The scene where Sheldon kisses Amy for the first time.

Fans will remember the episode well. Season 7, episode 15, The Locomotive Manipulation. Amy arranges a Valentine's Day train trip for herself and Sheldon, inviting Bernadette and Howard to join them on a double date.

Despite Sheldon's vicious dislike of Valentine's Day, he cannot resist the lure of his favourite mode of transport and agrees to the celebration. However, Amy's plan for a romantic evening becomes quickly unravelled when Sheldon encounters a fellow train enthusiast on their journey and begins neglecting his girlfriend.

To her credit, Amy does her best to remain calm at first and is glad he is enjoying the trip. But that fades fast, and in her frustration, she confronts a bewildered Sheldon who at first has no idea he has behaved inappropriately.

His retaliation is the stuff of legend. Declaring what is romantic, he sips wine which he loathes, exaggeratedly stares into Amy's eyes, and then kisses her.

But it is during that kiss, that the audience watches Sheldon melt into his girlfriend's arms, and it soon becomes far more than just part of his dramatic representation of what romance looks like. He feels it, she feels it, and boy did the audience feel it too.

Kaley Cuoco, who played Penny, has recently revealed that the scene had the entire studio audience on their feet, cheering for ten minutes.

3 Years Later, Big Bang Theory Stars Still Making Millions Off the Show

And it is hardly surprising, considering by this point, Sheldon and Amy had known each other since the season 3 finale and been officially dating since episode 10 of season 5. Fans were overjoyed, and the slow but steady pace of this strange, yet beautiful relationship would continue, culminating in the two marrying in the season 11 finale, and sharing their Nobel Prize win at the conclusion of season 12.
