A successful fantasy project has never received a sequel, but maybe now is the time?

An adaptation of Pittacus Lore's book I am Number Four rode the wave of young adult books and movies popularity and went on to gross nearly $150 million.

It would seem that it should have ensured the release of the sequel, but that did not happen.

According to the plot of the first movie, John Smith is the last surviving representative of another planet. On Earth he is hunted by other alien representatives sent to kill him. John has to go into hiding and constantly change his name.

The last city where the character stopped became his home. At some point John meets his love, and now he will have to fight enemies while discovering new abilities in himself.

John discovers in himself an accelerated reaction, strength and telekinesis. And it is only in the fight with the representatives of his people that he understands the essence of his existence.

In a recent interview, Teresa Palmer, who played Number 6 in the movie, shared that she still hopes to make the second movie The Power of Six:

"[…] but look, never say never, I would be down. We can get the rights back, we could do it ourselves, like guerilla style, make The Power of Six, that'd be awesome."

The first movie I am Number Four turned out to be incomplete and left a good material for the sequel. The war with the Mogadorians is not yet over, and nine children, of whom only six are left, must revive their race.

In the first movie, John was left without his guardian Henry, and now he, along with Number 6 and a guy named Sam, went in search of other surviving children to fight the invaders.

In the sequel, John most likely would have managed to find other Numbers and unite them to fight against the enemies.

With the popularity of young adult slowly returning – soon viewers will be able to see the prequel to The Hunger Games, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes – there is little hope that the studio will turn its attention back to I am Number Four, and fans will be able to see the rest of the alien John Smith's story on screen.
