'I Am Groot' TV Show Got People's Expectations Surprisingly High
Forget 'Loki' and 'Moon Knight', the real show of the year is coming.
A spin-off show about Groot, the tree-like buddy of the Guardians of the Galaxy, is going to arrive at Disney Plus in August – and it looks like people are really hyped to see it.
The show is going to be somewhat of a coming-of-age story, with Groot's "glory days growing up" to be described in a series of original shorts.
Some Marvel fans seem to be more excited to see this coming-of-age story than another one that is due to premiere on June 8.
One fan is even up for shuffling the schedule in favor of 'I Am Groot '.
"Crazy how im more interested in this than Ms Marvel. I think they should swap dates," – @ZayFL.
You'd be surprised to know how many fans Groot appears to have, with plenty of them already flooding Twitter threads with "I am Groot" jokes like it's 'Morbius ' premiere all over again.
In this case, however, the hype and high expectations seem to be pretty real.
"I can already see a bunch of grown men complain about these not being good enough even though they are shorts for kids," – @CCmor19.
Still, those who take the upcoming Groot show too seriously might want to chill, as 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director James Gunn clarified that 'I Am Groot' is not going to be a part of the Guardians saga canon.
This may mean that the show will be free to experiment with characters and events without major repercussions in the MCU – a possibility that got many people hoping for some unexpected and epic crossovers, like Baby Groot and Baby Yoda. Now that we are on a full multiverse swing, pretty much anything can happen.
The shorts are coming at Disney Plus on August 10.
