The majority of viewers were just as weirded out as Katniss to hear it.

If there's one thing we've all learned over the years, it's that it's better to appreciate something we loved a long time ago without looking at it through the prism of today's ethics.

Not many stories from the 2000s-2010s, especially love stories, would stand a chance if they were released today. The Hunger Games would definitely be the one to go down, as some parts of it were just plain creepy.

Let's forget for a second that we're talking about a dystopian world where two teenagers are forced to fight for their survival for the sake of entertainment and focus on romance.

No wonder Katniss and Peeta bonded over their trauma and felt the need to protect each other.

The story of their bravery, sacrifice, and rebellion is truly iconic and has made a huge impression on thousands of young fans around the world.

However, there was one moment that all fans felt the film could easily have done without.

In a heartfelt conversation the two have the night before the games, Peeta admits that he's been watching Katniss come home from school every day.

While the moment is meant to be sweet and show how much he cares for her, it doesn't paint the character in the best light.

If anything, this line made the majority of the fanbase raise an eyebrow and suspect Peeta of stalking his teammate. As many viewers now agree, this scene could easily be considered the worst in the entire franchise.

"I think that scene was supposed to be on the edge a little. It's clearly a little awkward for Katniss who doesn't seem to know what to think or how to respond since she didn't know she was getting that attention," Redditor Mundane_Monkey said, trying to argue that the awkwardness throughout the scene was intentional.

Whether you think that line is appropriate or not, it made its way into the final script and is now there for audiences to enjoy.

You can re-watch the Hunger Games movies by streaming them on Netflix, HBO Max and Peacock Premium.
