Hugh Grant Totally Lost It During the Oscars Red Carpet Interview
Hugh Grant has always been known for his boyish charm and unrivaled charisma. However, that all seems to have gone somewhere the moment he stepped onto the Oscars' red carpet this year.
Camera flashes can make anyone nervous, but, Hugh, you have been in the spotlight forever, so step it up!
In case you are confused as to what we are talking about, the 62-year-old British actor is currently under fire for a recent interview – or rather, lack thereof.
Model Ashley Graham interviewed Hugh Grant as part of ABC's red carpet coverage (and probably regretted it afterward).
The whole interview lasted about a minute, and Hugh could not seem any less interested in the exchange. He gave stiff and awkward answers to Ashley's questions for no reason at all.
When asked if he was rooting for anyone to win, the actor simply went, "No one in particular." Imagine going to the Oscars and not enjoying it at all… We can't either!
Even though Ashley should have been exhausted from carrying the weight of the interview on her shoulders alone, she was still seemingly upbeat and changed the subject to fashion.
She asked Grant who he was wearing, and he just said "my suit" and could not even name the designer. Well, Ashley, you tried!
Graham's third attempt at a proper conversation ended no better than the previous two.
The model probably thought that the actor would be more excited to talk about his own movie Glass Onion, but Grant proved her wrong by stating that he was "barely in it".
When asked if he had fun making the movie, Hugh replied, "Almost". Was it rude of him or just British of him? We couldn't tell.
Many fans are outraged that Grant did not even pretend to care about the interview, the Oscars, or his own movie. He even "received" the unofficial Most Grumpy Award of the night.
Can we really blame him considering he has never received a single nod from the Academy in all the years of his acting career? Anyone would lose interest in the whole thing after 40 years.
Others say that people should calm down and that the actor was not being rude, he was just being "European." While that may be the case, still, poor Ashley!
The girl tried her absolute best to get the man talking and received nothing in return. Better luck next time?
