The Big Bang Theory has a bunch of really irritating characters and storylines, but we still keep rewatching its 279 episodes with joy. That is what unconditional love to a sitcom means.

Frankly, there are a lot of things in the show that a non-fan wouldn't appreciate. For example, the fact that the famous nerd-gang is portrayed as a bunch of losers, despite the fact that they are all highly qualified university workers.

Or sometimes the humor in the show gets really dark, with hints of casual racism, fat-shaming, ageism, and so on.

While all of these things were probably essential in the sitcoms of its era, it's hard to imagine a show today where it's okay to, for example, constantly make fun of someone's foreign accent.

But the problem we want to highlight today is much bigger, still you probably thought it was not that big a deal to pay attention to.

Well, get ready to realize that your favorite The Big Bang Theory treats all women like they are not worthy of anything.

Yes, we see how confused you are. You may even object loudly and say that the female characters in the show are cool and smart and just as important as the male ones!

But that is exactly what the writers want you to think by showing something completely different on screen.

It all starts with Penny (who didn't even have a last name until she married Leonard), who is portrayed as a pretty but not so smart waitress who hopes to be an actress one day.

But even when the series finally unveiled Penny as a genuinely intelligent woman, the writers still gave other characters opportunities to mock her drinking habits or her magnificent body count.

Old but gold? More like a strong "meh" these days.

There was an attempt to make everything right by adding two more female leads – Amy Farrah-Fowler and Bernadette Rostenkowski.

These two are real scientists, they are clever, but, like the boys, they are a bit awkward socially.

And even though they have their personal growth over 12 seasons, the reason they are on the show is to help the guys grow up and become better people.

And they have successfully done their job. Although, considering how toxic all the TBBT relationships were, they shouldn't have lasted more than a day.

The bottom line is that male characters in the series can do the worst things and be as rude to their girlfriends as they want. But there's still going to be background laughter, no matter how bad the "joke" is.
