No one is safe from poor decisions.

Whether the actors were born into an industry family or made their way up the Hollywood hill on their own, they all have one thing in common. They probably made a lot of mistakes back in the day.

From getting into a fight with someone you really shouldn't be in a fight with, to getting involved in projects that were so bad they should have been wiped off the face of the earth, no young actor's path was ever clear. But all mistakes are different.

While some are quite harmless and affect the actor more than anyone else around him, others are so bad that they can ruin one's reputation forever.

That's what almost happened to actress Beth Maitland, best known for her role on CBS' The Young and the Restless. In her 20s, the actress was too naive to know right from wrong, so she was genuinely excited to accept the gig for a weight loss shock therapy center.

“First of all, it prepared me for the future storylines of bulimia, diet pill addiction, and bullying that Traci would soon face. And secondly, I learned to think through my choices. I had done something a bit embarrassing, so I had to really process what the consequences would mean to me,” the actress shared with Soap Opera Digest.

Unfortunately, the trend is far from over. Of course, in this day and age, there are more humane ways to lose weight, but influencers continue to promote questionable pills and products all over social media, not even thinking about how much harm a promo like this can cause.

Luckily, the experience was an eye-opener, and the actress has never been tempted to promote anything so questionable again. Now that she's been on The Young and the Restless for more than 30 years, Beth Maitland wouldn't even have to think about doing a promo like that.

If you want to see what The Young and the Restless has in store for Maitland's character, Traci Abbott, in the future, you can tune in to new episodes of the soap Monday through Friday on CBS.
