Who knew Raj was about to meet his TV crush?

Summary:

  • The Big Bang Theory was a CBS sitcom that aired for 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019.
  • At some point in the show, the cast was extended by two more actresses, Melissa Rauch, and Mayim Bialik.
  • However, Bialik was mentioned in one of the episodes before she even joined.

If there's one thing viewers love about the shows they watch more than the episodes themselves, it's a few Easter eggs and references they can look back on years later. Ever since the finale of The Big Bang Theory, they have been the only source of joy for many dedicated fans.

Not only do these little hidden moments create a reason to re-watch the show, but they also provide a sense of mystery. Who doesn't like to play detective from time to time? Besides, in a show that relied so much on a mix of science and pop culture references for its humor, there are probably still some things that never caught anyone's attention.

Perhaps the funniest of all the Easter eggs hidden beneath the surface is the story of how the writers of The Big Bang Theory managed to predict Sheldon's future love interest long before she was announced.

Mayim Bialik’s First Appearance On The Big Bang Theory

The first official appearance of Mayim Bialik's character Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory is in season 3, episode 23, The Lunar Excitation. In that episode, Raj and Howard find Amy's profile on the dating site in hopes of finding someone for Sheldon. However, this is not the first time Bialik has been mentioned.

Two and a half years earlier, in the 13th episode of the show's first season, The Bat Jar Conjecture, Raj mentions "the girl who played TV's Blossom" in dialogue. It's not exactly a name mention, but those who watched TV in the 90s will remember Blossom Russo and the actress who portrayed her.

While it's probably not a plot hole, and in this on-screen universe, Blossom could have been played by literally anyone in the world, it's a fun coincidence.

What makes it even better is that Mayim Bialik knew practically nothing about the show before she auditioned, so this one reference had nothing to do with her joining the cast.

Now that the show is over, and viewers have seen Amy and Sheldon's entire journey together and how they've both grown, it's absolutely clear that there could have been a better casting choice than Mayim Bialik. Maybe all the stars aligned just right for this prediction to come true.
