One thing we’ve learned from TBBT that doesn’t have anything to do with physics.

It's always hard to let go of your favorite show. Especially when that show has been the one comedic relief in your life that you could come back to for 11 years straight to take your mind off real life issues. But that's not the only reason why many viewers felt that TBBT's ending didn't quite live up to their expectations.

The finale, as heartwarming as it was in the end, felt a little rushed, leaving too many questions unanswered and loose ends hanging.

While some fans are upset about not seeing Raj in a loving relationship with someone, or Amy and Sheldon making up and acknowledging how messy their last conversation was, others believe there is a deeper meaning to the open ending. It's just there to show that life goes on.

Not every final episode needs to wrap up the story, especially when we're talking about the structure of a sitcom like this one.

We've seen several different approaches to ending a sitcom over the years, some that are a little too straightforward and cheesy, like Friends' final shot with the closed door to the iconic apartment, and others that just ruin the whole show in the most devastating way, like How I Met Your Mother.

Instead of showing the main characters drifting apart as they move on with their lives, or showing them staying together forever in a very unrealistic way, The Big Bang Theory decided to end on a high note. With all the characters still young adults, still together and still on good terms, but with endless possibilities for the future.

Besides, this approach has given them the perfect opportunity to do almost any kind of sequel they want in the future. Who knows what another The Big Bang Theory spin-off will be about! It could be a long-awaited continuation of any character's story.

Whether you agree with the message behind an open ending or not, you can revisit the journey of four awkward geek friends and their new neighbor by streaming The Big Bang Theory on Netflix or Max.
