Not every love story is supposed to have a happy ending.

There is nothing more charming than a well-written young love story unfolding right before your eyes. One Tree Hill was one of the shows to watch if you were ever a fan of romance and all the drama that comes with it.

Not surprisingly, even the actors in the show weren't safe from its influence and had quite an intense romance along the way.

Once audiences saw the first on-screen kiss between Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray as their characters Brooke and Lucas, they couldn't help but notice how much chemistry the actors had.

They must have noticed it too, because the new relationship soon began, ending in marriage in 2005.

The couple seemed to be very happy, so no one expected them to abruptly divorce less than half a year later.

Whatever happened between them remains private to this day, but you can imagine how impactful it must have been to end a marriage so soon.

This is what leads some people to believe that the rumors about Chad Michael Murray cheating on his wife with a co-star on a set of another movie are true.

Sofia Bush opened up about the difficulties she went through while continuing to work with her ex-husband on set on her Drama Queens podcast with Hilarie Burton Morgan and Bethany Joy Lenz:

"People can call it whatever they want. They can say it's strength, they can say it's pride, they can say its professionalism — you can put a positive or a negative skew on it, but I was always going to put Brooke Davis ahead of everybody and everything else. Nothing mattered to me but being honest for her."

As hard as it may have been, audiences will forever be grateful to Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray for their outstanding performances. For many people, One Tree Hill remains a perfect example of classic CW drama to this day.

If you're feeling nostalgic and want to watch it from the beginning, you can stream it on Hulu, Apple TV, or MAX.
