Some of the show’s actors may be just too good-looking for those who they portray in George R.R. Martin’s world.

Ever since Game of Thrones hit the screens, the characters’ young age just stopped being an excuse for limiting their impact on the whole political mess that lasted for 8 seasons, and House of the Dragon continues the trend.

Following the events of George R.R. Martin’s textbook-ish novel Fire & Blood, the prequel show has no prejudice regarding its young players’ role in the approaching war between the Blacks and the Greens, yet it also seemingly grants a huge compliment to the Targaryens’ older generation.

Starting with those who have been in there for Rhaenyra the most, Corlys and Rhaenys Velaryon are surely a power couple that can boast of a much better look than they’re supposed to have.

George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood suggests that by the time the whole mess between the Blacks and the Greens unfolds, Corlys is in his mid-70s, meaning that he was around 60 years old when the show’s season 1 kicked it off.

Rhaenys, in her turn, is supposed to be of an unbelievable age of 70 when she dies after a fierce dragon fight with Aemond. Given that the actors who play Corlys and Rhaenys, Steve Touissant and Eve Best, are 59 and 52 respectively in real life, House of the Dragon did give the characters a massive look upgrade.

Moving on to the core characters who still might surprise some of the series’ viewers despite being there all along. In the book, Rhaenyra and Alicent are 32 and 37 years old respectively, and this does seem a pretty young age for those who have been through a lot during the last 20 years.

Rhaenyra’s uncle-husband Daemon currently should be around 48 since he was in his 30s when season 1 started, while the show’s most hated deserter Criston Cole is believed to be in his late 30s or even 40s.

House of the Dragon’s youngest generation also has chances to strike everyone, but more with a sorrowful feeling of how quick they had to be to get dragged into the political feud. According to the original book, King Aegon II is no older than just 18 years old while his regent brother Aemond is supposed to be 2 years younger and thus is around 16.

Helaena Targaryen is a 17-year-old middle child, yet she’s already burdened with 3 little kids. Rhaenyra’s son and, ironically, best advisor Jacaerys and his potential future wife Baela Targaryen are both 16 years old by the time House of the Dragon season 2 picks the story up.
