Grotesquerie: What the Upcoming Ryan Murphy Series Will Be About & Release Date
The master of TV horror returns.
Ryan Murphy is one of the most influential filmmakers in Hollywood today. Well-thought script development, a great film crew, a talented cast that moves from series to series, and Murphy's sensitive mentoring have resulted in series and films that will go down in cinematic history.
His work has won multiple Golden Globe Awards, and the first season of American Horror Story received 17 Emmy nominations. Murphy shows the audience his original, loud and bright works, telling the story of those whom the cinema preferred to forget for many years.
FX recently released the first trailer for Ryan Murphy's upcoming series Grotesquerie. The new horror from the creator of AHS will tell about the investigation of a series of murders committed by a Satanist maniac. The search for the criminal will be undertaken by the tough alcoholic detective Lois Tryon and the shy nun-journalist Megan.
What Will Grotesquerie Be About?
According to the plot, a series of ritual murders occur in a small town. As shown in the trailer, an entire family is among the victims. Experienced investigator Lois Tryon takes over the investigation. The role is played by Niecy Nash – she appeared in Murphy's series Monster and Scream Queens.
An unexpected ally of Lois is the nun and journalist Megan from the Catholic organization. The sister researches rituals and cults, so her knowledge can help Lois expose the criminal. Over time, Lois begins to suspect that the killer is mocking her, and apparently her alcoholism, with his actions. Eventually, the case becomes personal for the detective.
Grotesquerie Is Compared to Longlegs
The trailer has caught the attention of Ryan Murphy fans. Comments say the series is similar in spirit to American Horror Story. However, few believe that Grotesquerie will be better than the popular horror anthology, which has fallen in both viewership and critical acclaim in recent years.
Grotesquerie is also being compared to True Detective and Dexter, as well as the recent horror hit Longlegs, about Satanists and a detective who turns out to have a personal score to settle with a serial killer.
Grotesquerie & Other Ryan Murphy Projects' Release Dates
The ten-episode first season of Grotesquerie will debut on FX on September 25, and will be available on Hulu the following day.
Netflix will release Season 2 of Ryan Murphy's Monster on September 19. Season 13 of American Horror Story is scheduled for release in 2025.
