How Many Dragons Will There Be in 'House of the Dragon' S1?
Looks like humans will have to put some effort into stealing the spotlight in this show.
Showrunner of 'House of the Dragons' Miguel Sapochnik has made it official: there are several dragons in the 'Game of Thrones ' prequel, and they are all going to be unique.
Spilling some tea to Empire, Sapochnik said that the new spinoff will have a total of 17 fire-breathers, and confirmed that nine of them will be introduced in the first season.
Moreover, it seems that each dragon is going to boast its own personality and looks. According to Sapochnik, the design of the scaly monsters was one of the toughest things in the creative process.
"The first thing you want is not to do Drogon," he told Empire, referring to the iconic dragon from 'Game of Thrones'. "So I came up with a whole theory about how there were three different kinds of dragons, based on their different skulls. We came up with all kinds of stuff. But in the end, we ended up back at Drogon."
He went on to jokingly compare Drogon to the Millenium Falcon — the legendary spaceship from the Star Wars franchise, saying that "it hit something".
What Sapochnik left undisclosed were the names of the dragons to be featured in season 1 of 'House of the Dragon '. Fans have went on to guess that Syrax, Caraxes, Vhagar, Sunfyre, Seasmoke and Tyraxes are the ones to possibly make an appearance in the opening season. Still, it's probably better to wait until the premiere — thankfully, the wait is not going to take long.
'House of the Dragon' premieres on HBO Max on August 21.
