How Many Doctor Strange Variants Will Be in 'Multiverse of Madness'?
In Marvel comics Doctor Strange has at least 15 variants. In the movie, we can certainly expect at least three of them to appear.
Trailers for 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' have already teased several versions of Doctor Strange that will appear in the movie, and it seems they all could cause him some trouble.
Defender Strange
Let's start with the least intimidating – or so it seems – variant, Defender Strange, who is basically the same Stephen we are all used to, but a member of the superhero group called The Defenders.
This one has exactly the same skill set as OG Doctor Strange. The Defenders are generally known in the comics as a bunch of rather individualistic superheroes that are likely to pursue their own goals even as they work together.
Plus, most of the group's members are not known to be team-players. So Defender Strange might not necessarily be very eager to team up with OG Strange, especially if their goals differ in the movie.
Zombie Strange
In one of the first trailers for 'Multiverse of Madness' we caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a zombified version of Doctor Strange.
While generally being scary and intimidating, Zombie Strange is also predictably capable of infecting others with the Quantum Virus – a disease that essentially turns people into zombies.
Aside from that, he is also a master of magic, like OG Strange. So, unless Zombie Strange is friends with the original version (which is unlikely), Stephen will have to watch out for both magical attacks and actual biting.
Strange Supreme
This variant certainly did give fans chills as he grinned and informed that "things just got out of hand" in the trailer. You don't need to be a dedicated comic book fan to tell that he looked very much evil.
That is exactly the case: Strange Supreme is a villainous version of Doctor Strange, who turned to dark side in order to alter the past and resurrect his tragically lost love, Christine Palmer.
We have already seen Strange Supreme in 'What If…?' animated series, so it makes his appearance in 'Multiverse of Madness' even more intriguing, given the vast range of problems he could cause for the original Doctor Strange.
Still, the only way to find out more about these problems is to wait until May 6 and head to the cinemas when 'Multiverse of Madness' hits screens… and hope that things would not eventually "get out of hand".
