How Exactly MCU's Peter Parker Got Powers is Still Anyone's Guess
Tom Holland's web slinger has already had some sort of a respawn, but his origin story, ironically, remains a mystery... even to the director.
The Spider-Man director Jon Watts has addressed what is probably one of the most intriguing MCU mysteries — the story of how Tom Holland 's Peter Parker actually received his abilities.
Previous Spider-Man movies designated substantial parts of the film to Tobey Maguire 's and Andrew Garfield's superheroes actually becoming web-crawlers, but the MCU iteration of the character is thrown right into the new superheroic reality.
In the new book by Sean O'Connell's, With Great Power: How Spider-Man Conquered Hollywood during the Golden Age of Comic Book Blockbusters, Watts said that his idea about Holland's Parker getting powers is "vague".
"It was just so nice to skip past it and just deal with more with the repercussions… and just explore it from the perspective of someone else finding out about it and having a lot of questions," the director explained.
Fans, however, don't seem to be satisfied with such an explanation. Since Tom Holland's Spider-Man entered the MCU, people have been trying to explain his abilities by themselves.
For instance, some people believe that the Oscrop corporation purchased the Avengers Tower to use as their headquarters — and this is how the Spider-Man lore may potentially connect to the Avengers universe.
Others believe that the Spider that bit him in the MCU was a Stark Industries Radioactive Test Spider, which kind of makes Tony Stark not only Peter's mentor but also his creator.
In Homecoming, a spider is even referenced, when Peter says that it's dead. Many fans ended up agreeing that the Spider-Man origin story was something that everybody has already seen on screen for multiple times.
No matter how interested one might be in the MCU Peter Parker's past, it looks like his origin story is unlikely to be addressed in further Marvel movies, so it would be better off for everyone to focus on his future.
Spider-Man 4 is most likely a question of time, even though no official information about the movie's release date is currently available. However, multiple reports have suggested that the fourth installment of Spider-Man is slated for 2024 release.
