Viewers will be in for another heartbreaking scene if the fans’ guesses are right.

The following contains spoilers for House of the Dragon S2.

The House of the Dragon continues filming despite strikes, and thanks to photos from the set, fans have a chance to guess what will happen in the second season.

An episode with Blood and Cheese has already been confirmed, which promises to be even more shocking and bloody than the Red Wedding. Looks like the second season will continue to be heartbreaking, as it will likely end with another Rhaenyra's child, Jacaerys Velaryon, dying.

New photos show a bloodied ship bearing a scorpion, the dragon-slaying weapon from Game of Thrones that killed one of Daenerys' dragons.

The fans concluded that the final battle of season two will be the Battle of the Gullet, as it is the only way a scorpion can be used.

The Battle of the Gullet is one of the bloodiest sea battles in history that took place during the Dance of the Dragons. In this battle, the war fleet of the Kingdom of the Three Daughters, fighting on the side of the Greens, clashed with five Black Dragons.

Aegon II Targaryen and the Greens controlled the capital, King's Landing. The Blacks controlled the islands of Dragonstone and Driftmark east of King's Landing.

Lord Corlys Velarion, one of the leaders of the Blacks, used his loyal fleet to block the Narrow Sea, creating a naval blockade of the capital: while the Narrow Sea was blocked, merchant ships could not enter Blackwater Bay.

To break the blockade, Otto Hightower turned to the old enemies of Daemon Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon – the Triarchy. The High Council of the Triarchy decided to intervene in the civil war in Westeros – ninety warships sailed up to the Gullet.

The battle could have been a bloodless victory for the Targaryens, but at the end Jacaerys Velaryon and his dragon Vermax were killed.

Vermax flew too low and crashed into the sea – according to various versions, he was shot down by a scorpion to the eye, or hooked by a grapnel thrown from one of the ships. Jaсaerys managed to swim to the surface and grab onto one of the smoking wrecks, only to be shot down by crossbowmen from a nearby ship.

It is quite possible that this particular battle will become the season finale, continuing the sad trend – at the end of the first season, Rhaenyra's son, Lucerys, also died.

While there is no exact release date for the second season of House of the Dragon, it is known that it will be released in the late spring or early summer of 2024.
