House of the Dragon S2 Latest Leaks Managed to Equally Piss Both Teams Off
The prequel is already in line to beat the original show in nonsense.
Summary:
- House of The Dragon is an HBO TV series, a prequel to another hit based on George R. R. Martin’s books, Game of Thrones.
- The show focuses exclusively on the Targaryen family and tells the story of the civil war that led the house to its downfall.
- House of The Dragon S1 was a massive success, however, according to leaks, S2 may take too much creative freedom from the original source to fans’ liking.
From the very beginning of the show's production, comparisons between House of The Dragon and its predecessor, Game of Thrones, were inevitable. After the huge success that the original series had throughout its run, and the even bigger downfall, viewers were anxious to see what the team behind House of The Dragon could offer.
As it turns out, all the stress was for nothing, as the season that premiered back in 2022 was everything fans were expecting and more. With dragons of all kinds from the very first moments of the very first episode to top-notch acting in some of the most well-known and beloved locations, House of The Dragon restored all hope in the fans.
However, it was only the fans who weren't familiar with the books who were so euphoric. Those who had the chance to read George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood knew that the showrunners took some liberties and changed some stories to tell the story they wanted to tell. Not necessarily the one that was written.
However, because the overall quality of the show was so high, the story remained highly entertaining and intriguing, and whatever was to come next was very promising, no one had any real concerns. Now that season 2 is in post-production, there are various rumors and leaks surrounding the story, and some feel that they have been wronged once again by the producers.
House Of The Dragon S2 New Leaks
The latest leaks, which of course have not been confirmed by HBO representatives or House of The Dragon crew members, claim that season 2 of the series will not introduce two key characters into the story.
According to X account House of the Dragons, Daeron, the youngest son of King Viserys I Targaryen and his second wife, Queen Alicent, who was expected to appear in season 1 but never did, and a Dragonseed, Nettles, have both reportedly been cut. If true, such a decision could be crucial for the showrunners in terms of fan trust.
Daeron, Alicent's youngest son, is a key character for Team Green, and his delayed introduction makes little to no sense. A kid can't just show up in season 3 and have everyone pretend they knew he existed all along, can he? Instead, many book fans fear that Daeron will be cut out entirely, which would severely disrupt other moments in the original story.
For Nettles, an introduction during season 2 would also make the most sense, as there is a confirmed casting update about Clinton Liberty taking on the role of another Dragonseed, Addam Velaryon. It would also be understandable if the character was dropped altogether, as the book suggests a very vague description of 16-year-old Nettles' relationship with Daemon Targaryen in his 50s.
However, as the love between Daemon and Rhaenyra is one of the most controversial topics in the entire House of the Dragon fandom, it was hoped that Nettles' character would put an end to the debates once and for all. Whether we won't see her at all, or have to wait a few more years, we'll find out when the season airs.
