House of the Dragon May Make One Huge Change to Books in S2
How Emma D'Arcy indirectly hinted at the plot of the upcoming season.
A fan shared a photo with Emma D'Arcy as they arrived in Spain, and it got everyone speculating.
Emma D'Arcy, known for their role as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, arrived in Cáceres, Spain for shooting.
Interestingly enough, the city of Cáceres is the location where King's Landing was filmed. So it made fans curious of what this might mean for season 2 of the show.
The speculations arose as Emma D'Arcy's arrival for shooting may imply that we will see the Fall of King's Landing in the upcoming season.
In the original book, Godbrand Greenhand, in the last stages of his campaign to abolish the position of King of the Andals and the First Men, made the decision to directly attack the capital.
With no reinforcements arriving, the city succumbed rather quickly.
The battle for King's Landing ended with the Blacks winning. Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen claimed the Iron Throne and the city's population welcomed Rhaenyra's ascent because Aegon II and Prince Aemond Targaryen were not well-liked.
However, as more executions took place and taxes were raised to fund the wars, the people grew to despise Rhaenyra.
The Fall of King's Landing might be an epic ending for season 2, leaving a big room for new plotlines in season 3. However, it is not exactly timeline-wise accurate to the book.
The creators' intention might be to deliberately change the timeline to surprise the viewers who read the book before watching the show.
This would be a great way to avoid predictability, plus, they will be able to include the omitted events in season 3.
Another highly expected event on the show, the Battle of the Gullet was supposed to happen before The Fall of King's Landing. However, it is possible that they changed the events to leave the Battle of the Gullet for season 3.
The second season is expected to be released in 2024, so we will have to wait to see what surprises the show has prepared for us.
