House of the Dragon Major Casting Update Just Foreshadowed a Pivotal Battle Everyone Is Waiting For
The character is yet to come around in the show, but her appearance is what actually promises a highly anticipated war start.
House of the Dragon ’s season 2 has so far been pretty uncertain about when the long-promised war between the Blacks and the Greens will finally unfold, but the recent plot twists and big news regarding a major addition to the lead cast might prove big action is just around the corner.
The second installment’s episode 5 left fans with a cliffhanger suggesting that Rhaenyra and her son Jacaerys have just embarked on a search for allies across Westeros.
However, the Greens have one more trick up their sleeve, and this time it has a direct connection to the Dance of the Dragons’ crucial battle.
Upon the second season’s premiere back in June, House of the Dragon’s casting update has been made official, revealing that Abigail Thorn was cast as Sharako Lohar.
The actress will portray a determined naval commander whose forces eventually make an attempt to break the blockade established by the Blacks during the Battle of the Gullet, which is frequently referred to as one of the fiercest and bloodiest fights in Westerosi history.
So far, the show is yet to introduce Lohar who, having no real physical description in George R.R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, in House of the Dragon has a gender change and comes as a female leader of the Greens’ navy forces.
Apart from Thorn’s possible entrance sometime in season 2, there’s another clear indication of the Battle of the Gullet being closer than we expected.
Since the ruthless fight which will cause lots of casualties for both sides is the first one to introduce new Dragonseeds taking sides, not so much time may pass between Rhaenyra’s search for other Targaryens who could help her beat her enemies and the actual battle.
This point is proved by the fact that House of the Dragon’s latest episode had already seen Blacks coming up with a plan of recruiting more Dragonseeds for the approaching war.
House of the Dragon’s next episode is set to premiere on Max on July 21.
