House of the Dragon Fans Don't Want Henry Cavill Anywhere Near the Show
Even though white locks look good on Henry Cavill, the fans of House of the Dragon hate the very idea of him being a Targaryen.
The premiere of House of the Dragon broke all records, and quickly enough it was announced that the series had been renewed for a second season.
Then rumors appeared that Henry Cavill, known for his role as Superman and The Witcher, could appear in the second season.
House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The series tells the story of how House Targaryen became embroiled in a civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, which ultimately led to the collapse of the royal dynasty of Westeros.
Despite the fact that Cavill has shown that he is very comfortable in fantasy roles and that he himself is impressed with such a setting, the actor admitted that the rumors turned out to be false.
"To be fair, when I was watching House of the Dragon, I was like "I feel like a lot of these guys could make really good Witchers..." I think it would be cool to be in Westeros, I really do. I don't think there's a place for me in there, though," the actor said in his interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast.
As soon as the rumor surfaced and had not yet been debunked, House of the Dragon fans rebelled. Many agreed that although Cavill is a great actor, having him in the show would be a terrible miscast. First of all, Henry is too good-looking (yes, sometimes that can be a problem).
"The Targaryen men that have been cast are not typically this classically handsome, but rather more an offbeat type of attractive. Inbreeding doesn't produce men that look like this," Reddit user MissTeeny27 commented.
Secondly, according to fans, just because Cavill looked great with white hair as The Witcher doesn't mean he should now play every white-haired character in upcoming movies or shows (though it sounds tempting).
"Same thing happened with Bryan Cranston. People thought he should play every bald person in existence," Reddit user GrizzlyPeak73 added.
Looks like House of the Dragon fans can sleep soundly in anticipation of the second season, as Cavill himself has essentially confirmed that he won't be in the show.
There is no exact release date for the second season of House of the Dragon yet, but most likely it should be expected in the summer of 2024.
