The Game of Thrones prequel mostly nailed it when it came to visuals... well, except of maybe those wigs, huh?

House of the Dragon has been praised by fans for the way dragons were portrayed on screen, and the costumes were also mostly celebrated by the fandom for the clothing details.

However, it seems that all effort went into clothes, because some characters' hairstyle has been nothing but a cringe festival. In House of the Dragon subreddit, fans were left scratching their heads when they brought up a certain Rhaenys' hairstyle.

Her blonde wig looks ridiculously long, with fans brainstorming as to what could happen to it. Is she hiding her dragon in there? Is her hair full of secrets? Or maybe a dragon egg is being incubated there?

Many fans have blasted the Velaryon wigs as well, arguing that "even the race swap" wasn't as bad as the House Velaryon's hairstyles.

However, there was someone ready to defend Rhaenys' hairstyle — as well as the entire House of the Dragon's costume department.

"Wealthy women and sometimes even not so wealthy women used to save their hair from their brushes and use it to build out these really full and TALL hairstyles. It worked like ye olde bump-it," said Redditor alligatorsinmahpants, introducing themselves as a costume designer.

It's not a universal problem for the show, as pretty much all the main characters have decent-looking wigs... and that's what makes it even worse.

"I think the bad ones stick out even more because they're surrounded by better ones," Redditor We_The_Raptors noted.

Maybe, House of the Dragon season 2 will finally do justice to everyone and improve all wigs at once. The second season is set to start filming in March 2023, with HBO to schedule the premiere date later.
