HotD Season 2 to Feature a Scene So Brutal, It's Never Been Done Before
House of the Dragon isn't set to return to our screens until 2024, but there are already plenty of rumours about what might be featured in it – including the infamous Blood and Cheese scene.
Now, for those not familiar with happenings in Westeros, the term "Blood and Cheese" probably doesn't mean much. But avid fans of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are well aware of its reference to a gruesome scene in the battle between the Blacks and the Greens that took part during the civil war.
Sara Hess, a writer on the show was asked outright whether the scene will be included in season 2, and was pretty coy but suggestive, saying "I don't think you'll be disappointed."
"Blood and Cheese" are pseudonyms for two assassins. Blood was once a goldcloak who was expelled from King's Landing after killing a prostitute, and Cheese is one of the Targaryen's ratcatchers. The two are contacted by Mysaria (acting on orders from Daemon) to take revenge on the Greens in response to the death of Daemon's son, Lucerys.

The pair work together to gain access to Alicent Hightower's bedchamber where they gag her and then await the return of her daughter Helaena who is, by this time, Queen to Aegon II. Helaena's escort is dispatched pretty quickly, and the queen is then given an impossible task.
She must choose one of her sons to die in payment for the death of Lucerys. Helaena begins by offering up herself. But this is no negotiation. The pair have been sent by Daemon who is in no mood to discuss the matter and just wants an answer to the conundrum.
Helaena eventually chooses the two-year-old Maelor. At which point Bloods takes no notice of her and decapitates her other son, Jaehaerys who is aged six and heir to the throne. They then flee back through the tunnels under the Red Keep with the child's severed head as proof that they have carried out the killing.
3 Most Cringe-Worthy House of the Dragon Scenes Fans Wish They Could Unsee
Much like the Red Wedding, this is likely to be a scene that is shocking, grotesque, difficult to watch…and yet compelling viewing.
And if the rumours are true that the Blood and Cheese scene will come as part of the season finale, it's going to be another long wait for fans to see how season 3 deals with the aftermath of the killing.
