One character that was kept in the show solely for a pretty face.

While there were some couples on Friends that fans saw as a clear endgame from the very first time they met, the situation with others was never as clear.

Both Joey and Phoebe, despite trying their luck with many people, never tried to date each other, which is why they were subjected to dating in the wild.

Although many fans agree that a third couple in a group of friends would be a bit much, they were also sometimes tired of watching Joey and Phoebe's relationships fail.

That was until Phoebe met David The Scientist Guy and found herself in a serious relationship with him.

They say it's not always the best choice to settle down with your first serious partner, but some fans believe there was no better match for Phoebe Buffay in all of New York.

As portrayed by Hank Azaria, David was everything a girl could want. The only bad thing about him, which initially led to the end of their relationship, was his job, which required a lot of traveling.

Of course, he would come back for her, as he always did, but Phoebe's free spirit probably couldn't stand the tension of not having the love of her life around.

Many fans believe that the story of David and Phoebe was meant to have a sad ending to make it feel more realistic: sometimes you can feel like you have everything you need, but then lose it to consequences.

Others, however, believe that they were meant to be an endgame until Paul Rudd and his character Mike came along.

It's hard to blame the cast and crew for falling in love with the charismatic actor.

However, the fans still aren't sure if it was the right decision. Either way, there is nothing that can be done today to rewrite history. All that's left for fans of Phoebe and David is to re-watch old episodes with them together.
