Hit Netflix Show to Keep Going Without Jenna Ortega After Her Sudden Exit
Ortega’s newly-found popularity sees her dropping iconic shows left and right.
While she’s been part of the global movie and TV show landscape for years now, it’s only after Netflix ’s Wednesday that Jenna Ortega rose to such a prominent position. The overwhelming success of The Addams Family spin-off launched its lead actress into global stardom, and now Ortega can pick from countless offers, not tied by nearly as many role limitations as before.
Unfortunately, this also means she’s dropping out of her previous projects.
Ortega Leaves Her Latest Hit Netflix Show
In case you’ve grown all tense and nervous, you can relax: the Wednesday star isn’t dropping her breakthrough series. She’s now even producing it after all! But following Ortega’s exit from the Scream franchise, she now also quit Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, Netflix’s animated series that conquered hearts and minds earlier this year.
In Chaos Theory Season 1, Jenna Ortega portrayed Brooklynn, but that matters little now: with the star’s exit, her character is getting killed off. As simple as that, yes.
“We had originally hoped Jenna would be able to return to the role, <...> but her busy schedule becoming a global mega-star made it impossible. <...> Not enough mortal danger, huh? Well, how about this: Brooklynn’s dead! Happy now?! Look what you made us do! Now excuse me while I collapse into a fetal position and cry in my office,” Chaos Theory showrunners Scott Kreamer and Aaron Hammersley told IGN.
Chaos Theory Received Great Reviews
Taking Jurassic World into the realm of animation proved to be a great idea, and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory is a living proof of that. The show’s Season 1 that premiered this just a week ago has already raked up spectacular reviews, boasting a perfect 100% Critic Score on Rotten Tomatoes, complimented by its 94% Audience Score and a solid 7.7/10 IMDb score. The new TV show is doing really well!
Jenna Ortega’s exit is rather unfortunate for the animated series and makes its showrunners reshape their plans for Season 2 around Brooklynn’s fate, but it’s nothing they can’t handle. After all, it’s not like the star actress lent her face to her character: her presence was merely in the voice. We’re sure the show will handle it.
