HIMYM's Biggest Mystery Finally Explained In The Spin-off

For many years, How I Met Your Mother fans couldn't sleep because of an unsolved mystery that was part of the show.

Yes, we are talking about the pineapple incident, which happened in episode 10 season 1 of the series.

In this episode, Barney, Marshall and Lily criticize Ted for being an overthinker and never actually doing what's on his mind.

Shortly afterwards, they get Ted completely drunk, but he still tries to convince his friends that he can be fully functional while drunk. Unfortunately, his words don't match his actions, and soon he simply blacks out.

The next morning he woke up with absolutely no idea how the night went. When he opens his eyes, there is a beautiful girl next to him and a pineapple on his nightstand.

Marshall, Lily and Barney all tell him some parts of the night, while Ted tries to put all the pieces together.

By chance, and with the help of his friends, he managed to remember everything, even the brunette's name (Trudy) and the connection to her.

But the one place that was a blank hole was the pineapple and where it came from.

Throughout the show, the characters refer to the pineapple a lot, but there was never any explanation as to how it actually ended up on the nightstand in Ted's room.

Well, almost 10 years later, we now have the answer to all those pineapple questions. The spinoff series, How I Met Your Father, gives us an answer!

At the end of the first season, the Captain, portrayed by the brilliant Kyle MacLachlan, mentions a pineapple that was stolen from his porch many years ago.

Fans immediately connected the dots and realized that this was the exact same pineapple that Ted had in his room! Apparently, he stole the pineapple from the porch that day when he was totally drunk and never remembered it.

Finally, the prayers of the fans have been answered and after all these years the mystery is solved.
