HIMYM's Best Character With Criminally Short Screen Time
The last season should've focused on this character.
For many years, How I Met Your Mother delighted viewers with its witty humor, likable protagonists, and their sweet (and complicated) love stories. But as is often the case with sitcoms, it's the sidekicks who have sometimes overshadowed Ted Mosby and his friends.
One of the characters who stands out in this respect is Ted's younger sister, Heather Mosby, who only appeared in Episode 11 of Season 4, 'Little Minnesota.' Unlike her brother, who is pretty introverted, Heather was shown to be quite jaunty and have a volatile temper.
Describing his sister, Ted noted that it took her six years to graduate from college, and during that time she somehow managed to get married for five days and live in a tree for nine weeks. And the day before her college entrance exam, Heather sold the furniture in her apartment and flew to Spain for a concert.
So it's no wonder that, despite her limited screen time, Heather managed to make a lasting impression on the audience.
Another character that fans wanted to see more of on the show was Barney's brother, James Stinson. The brothers were a dangerous combination, as they were very similar in their ability to charm the opposite sex.
Like Barney, James is into laser tag, elaborate costumes, blogging, and does not know who his real father is. The Stinsons' colorful duo became the catalyst for many jokes and hilarious situations, leading to a cute, melodramatic denouement.
But of course, the most beloved character with the least screen time was Tracy, the very mother from the show's title.
The mother of Ted's two kids appeared in the second season of HIMYM but didn't get into the spotlight until near the end of the series, as the story came to a conclusion. However, her impact on the plot and the viewers was immeasurable. The character of The Mother became the missing piece of the puzzle, the woman Ted had been looking for all along.
Tracy's charm, wit, and genuine personality made her an instant fan favorite. Her love story with Mosby was beautifully portrayed, and fans cheered to see their happy ending, which unfortunately never happened. Tracy brought a fresh energy to the show, breathing new life into the controversial finale and revitalizing the narrative for a short time.
Fans think it's a huge missed opportunity that there wasn't a tenth season to properly flesh out the romance between Ted and Tracy, and it's a shame that such a bright and wonderful character never got the spotlight she deserved.
