How I Met Your Mother is one of those shows that offers too much: storylines, love interests, challenges, mysteries, and the list goes on. But it would be a lie to say that this is not one of the reasons why fans appreciate the show.

The show features a group of friends, each of whom is focused on something.

Robin is focused on her career, Lily is all about finding her purpose in life, Marshall wants to save the Earth, Barney... well, you know.

And the most unfortunate of them all is Ted, whose goal in life is to find "the one" and start a family.

Seems simple at first, right? The truth is, before he actually finds true love and starts a family (well, the first one), Ted goes through a lot of trouble with his girlfriends. And we mean a lot.

There was Zoe, the activist who ended up being someone else's life and didn't appreciate Ted enough.

There was Victoria, who seemed like a perfect match, but decided to move to another country rather than stay with Ted.

There were many other unfortunate relationships that left Ted heartbroken over and over again.

But this particular girl hit Ted harder than any of the others. Yes, of course we are talking about Stella! The girl who turned Ted down so many times it was hard to count.

And even though their love story seemed super romantic and "the one" at first, it turned out to be a real disaster. Frankly, it's hard to believe that anyone could still be hopeful after going through so much cruelty.

Fans agree Stella is the worst girlfriend Ted had for many reasons. But there is apparently the biggest one.

And that's absolutely true, and it almost shows Stella as a non-human, incapable of empathy. But we think the worst thing that happened after all that is that she was never treated like a bad person after that.

Ted still manages to forgive her and even help her in the future. Oh, poor Ted. You really are one of a kind.
