Even though Bob has done nothing wrong.

On a show like Stranger Things, death seems inevitable. Of course, by adding all sorts of dangerous, bloodthirsty monsters to the universe, the writers had to pick a few victims to murder in order to raise the stakes for viewers. No one wants to see the characters protected all the time, so sooner or later even fan favorites found themselves in danger.

The death of Joe Quinn's Eddie Munson at the end of season 4 was a moment many fans have yet to get over. Not only was it the end of his glorious redemption arc, but it was also a stark reminder that no Stranger Things character is ever truly safe. Ranking all the character deaths so far, fans still find his to be the most devastating.

How Did Eddie Munson Die on Stranger Things?

While the thought of Eddie dying a true hero gives viewers some comfort, it's still incredibly upsetting to see him fighting a horde of Demobats. According to the actor who portrayed Eddie, Joe Quinn, it was a conscious decision that Eddie made and stood by: not to run away from what was coming.

Protecting not only his best pal Dustin, but an entire town, Eddie loses his life. And while many would agree that his death was the most emotional yet, others could argue that it wasn't the most underserved. Looking back at the show, we have already had a character who literally did nothing wrong sacrifice himself to save his loved ones.

Would you like to see Eddie return in Season 5?

Bob Newby, Joyce's former boyfriend, met his death at the Hawkins National Laboratory when it was attacked by Demodogs. This shocking scene has stayed with many viewers for the longest time, and many feel that it was even more unfair than Eddie's simply because of the man's pure intentions throughout his character's run.

While both deaths are equally tragic, there is a reason why Eddie's death hits so much harder than Bob's, even though the circumstances are somewhat similar. While Bob was a grown man with a lot to live for and a life full of experiences, Eddie was just a teenager at the beginning of his life.

While it is hoped that none of the main characters will die in the upcoming and final season 5 of the show, there is no way to predict. Eddie's death has just reminded fans that no one is safe, and the final battle with Vecna may end up being far more stressful than anyone expected.
